Heartfelt Hypnotherapy

About Hypnotherapy #01
In today’s informed society, you would think that the majority of us would have some idea of what hypnosis is all about and how it can be used. Believe it or not though, many common misconceptions still exist today about how it works in practice. The most important thing to understand is that the hypnotic state is one in which the subject is always in control. You cannot be made to do anything you are not comfortable with, either morally or otherwise. You are also free to come out of the trance at any time you desire, with no ill effect. In fact the experience of being in a trance is a perfectly natural and relaxing human phenomenon.

Hypnosis in itself is not a treatment. It can be used as a means of achieving a state of calm and relaxation in a subject or through self hypnosis similar to meditation. Its aim in therapy is for the practitioner to assist the subject to achieve a state of trance, where their responsiveness to suggestion is heightened. By accessing the subconscious, from where our belief system operates, we can beneficially alter the subjects’ behaviour and replace old limiting beliefs with new liberating ones through the use of various techniques appropriate to each individual case.

The range of applications are enormous; Stopping habits such as smoking and over eating, improving self esteem and confidence, overcoming phobias, enhancing concentration in the learning environment, reducing the effects of chronic health problems, pain relief and anaesthesia, anxiety and depression and dealing with the debilitating effects of trauma such as bereavement and child abuse, to name but a few.
